My passion for hiking begun in Scotland, specifically “Munro Bagging” which is trying to climb all of the Munros (mountains over 3000 feet) of which there are currently 282. They do get re-classified every so often as advances in surveying equipment are made. That’s not to say though that I only climb Munros. There are plenty of beautiful smaller hills which are often a lot more quiet.
When I first started “bagging” I was kind of obsessed and would go out in all sorts of weather. I have since become a little fed up of going out and seen nothing but cloud and I am definitely more selective of what weather I hike in now but saying that, if you wait for perfect weather in Scotland you won’t go out very much. What going out in all weather taught me was just how bad and changeable the weather can be on Scottish mountains. Even though they are not that high, compared to other mountains around the world, they can still create life threatening conditions. The weather can change from clear blue skies to complete white out conditions in a second which has taught me to be prepared for anything.
Below are some photos of my top hikes all around Scotland .
